Nokia 920, 820 leaks reveal wireless charging and promising specs

This week promises a lot for Nokia fans, as the world’s press, including ITProPortal, flocks to New York for a special launch event hosted by the company. The Finns will be hoping the firm’s revival starts here, and new handsets in the form of the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 appear to be fronting Nokia’s fresh assault on the market.

Photos of the two Windows Phone 8 models were leaked online at the end of last week and the same source of this revelation has slipped another image into the mix that will no doubt heighten anticipation ahead of the announcements expected in New York. The @evleaks Twitter account has followed up images of the smartphones with a new post depicting a wireless charger.

Tweeted with the heading “Nokia Lumia Charging Pad”, the picture shows the Lumias sitting atop a pebble with power surging through the case of the device. Wireless charging would certainly be a welcome feature on the new models, matching up with the capabilities of the sales-smashing devices like the Samsung Galaxy S3.

“Sources familiar” with Nokia’s plans have confirmed to The Verge that Nokia is indeed packaging wireless charging with its flagship phones, which will support the “Qi wireless power standard — making it compatible with other wireless charging products.”....
