If the leaked info and pic are accurate, then HTC may be poised to jump back into the Android tablet market. In fact, the intel indicates that this will be a big part of HTC's September 19th press event. Their HTC Flyer was pretty much a flop, primarily because it was over-priced for the specs compared to the competition. Perhaps HTC has learned their lesson from that experience. Regardless, here are the details that the "rumint" has revealed on the 7-inch tablet. There isn't much more than speculation and the picture above for the 10-inch tablet.

7-Inch Tablet:
Android 4.1 Jelly BeanProbably will include support for the Scribe digital pen7-inch 1,280?768-pixel displayQualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor3-megapixel camera on the rear1-megapixel front-facing camera.Superslim 7.1mm thin anodized aluminum body
As you can see from the picture, the 10-inch tablet looks very HTC One-like. It's nice to see that HTC is sticking to a particular design aesthetic. We should know something for sure in a couple of weeks, and will keep you guys informed. If they can price it competitively, it could be worth checking out. What do you guys think?

Source: HTConeForum via CNET

Really depends on the price, but I like the inclusion of the digital pen. I'm not even worried about the cheaper camera's either because personally I hate taking pics with my tab. I'd rather have a higher quality one on my phone.
Hopefully they will use a better digitizer layer this time around, HTC, and I think Lenova cut corners and ended up with a somewhat disappointing user experience.

We have surprising new info regarding the new gaming-focused Android tablet called the WikiPad. Just in case you missed it previously, the concept for this device has been floating around the web since at least January of this year. It had mostly faded into obscurity, with the occasional tidbit or rumor leaking out. Low and behold, the actual device has shown up with press pics, specs, pricing and a timeframe of availability at Gamestop! Here's a breakdown of what we have learned:

Specs for the WikiPad Gaming Android tablet:
1.4 GHz quad-core Tegra 3 CPU10.1-inch 1280 x 800 IPS LCD1 GB of RAM16 and 32 GB of internal storage optionsAndroid 4.1 Jelly BeanWi-Fi 802.11 b/g/nDual 8 MP/2 MP cameras23.46 Wh batteryBuilt-in stereo speakersBuil-in GamepadA microSD slotSoftware Bonuses: Full access to Google Play and Tegra 3-optimized games, as well as ?exclusive full-length game titles? from GameStop and will be PlayStation Certified and optimized for the Gaikai platform.
The tablet is already up for pre-order on their website. It will retail at brick and mortar Gamestop stores for $499.99, and launch in October. That's a bit of a steep price if you just factor in the internal hardware, but taken as a whole, is decent enough to grab some sales for folks who want to do some hard-core gaming on their tablet. The competition is going to get tougher over the next few months (and more) in tablets though, so it remains to be seen if this impressive gimmick will be successful. Chime in your perspective. There are a few more pics at the source link below.

The price is a little steep, but not above and beyond what I would have expected. It would be a nice tab and the addition of the Gamepad is a really nice feature. However, given the number of tabs with similar specs coming out along with those company's developing Android Tablet based bluetooth gamepads, there's soon to be cheaper alternatives. I really like it though!

Microsoft's Windows 8 is set for a release date this October, and as the summer comes to a close more information about the next-generation operating system has begun to leak. The newest bit of information concerns the higher-end version of the software, known as Windows 8 Pro.

The price for Windows 8 Pro has been revealed, The Verge reported, and will cost $199 after a promotional price of $69.99 expires on Jan. 31, 2013. A source familiar with Microsoft's plans shared this information with the tech news website, and Microsoft will also offer a Windows 8 to Windows 8 Pro upgrade available at retail locations for $69.99 until Jan. 31.

It was previously reported that Microsoft is offering a Windows 8 Pro upgrade for existing Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 users for a price of $39.99. This is a deal exclusive to online customers wishing to download the software without the DVD. .bk_ggl div {height:92px!important; margin-bottom:20px!important;} Must ReadDemonoidDemonoid Return Could Be Halted By Anti-Piracy ActionWadjdaSaudi Arabia's First Female Moviemaker Debuts At Venice Film FestivalSponsorship Link

However, Microsoft users looking to purchase the upcoming operating system may be getting more than new software with their purchase. The Redmond, Wash.-based company has rolled out another promotional deal for students, catering to the college community.

Any student purchasing a PC for college may be eligible to get a free Xbox. If college students purchase a Windows PC at a participating retailer, they will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 in the fall for $14.99 and will get a free Xbox with their purchase.

"All you really need for college," the advertisement reads.

However, there has been some controversy surrounding Microsoft's Windows 8 release, such as chief of Valve Gabe Newell's comment that Windows 8 is a "catastrophe for everyone in the PC space." Valve is one of the leading PC gaming companies on the market, and it wasn't long before other big shots followed suit such as Rob Pardo of Activision Blizzard and "Minecraft" creator Markus Persson.

Could these promotional deals be an attempt to win over the gaming community and the college crowd? Microsoft is launching Windows 8 just after the release date for Apple's highly anticipated iPhone 5 and rumored iPad Mini is expected to come.

Microsoft released the final build of Windows 8 last week, known as RTM, to developers and manufacturers. However, some critics aren't confident in Microsoft's next-generation product,

"So how will it look when it lands on your desktop on Oct. 26?" questions Sean Ludwig of Venture Beat. "Based on my tests, not very well. In fact, if you're still using a desktop PC, you're probably going to dislike Windows 8."

Microsoft is working to make Windows 8 a seamless operating system that works across all of its devices, with the exception of smartphones. But the company is creating the operating system and the Windows Phone 8 software with a shared kernel, meaning that it should be easier for developers to create apps for both platforms. While this sounds helpful, as Ludwig acknowledges, this could be problematic since working on a desktop is different from working on a tablet or other mobile devices.

"With Windows 8, Microsoft favors tablets, touchscreens, and laptops with modern touchpads," Ludwig writes. "It works very well for these kinds of computers. Traditional desktops with a keyboard and mouse, on the other hand, have been left in the dust."

The price for Microsoft's Surface tablet was also allegedly revealed recently, and the tablet is believed to cost $199.

Ahead of the IFA consumer-electronics trade show that officially opens Friday in Berlin, Sony took the stage earlier this afternoon to make some revelations about what's to come in its new product lineup.

(Photo: Twitter)<br>As the Windows 8 release date draws near, Microsoft’s new operating system is beginning to make more sense. First comes the software made for PCs and tablets, and now comes the devices that fit that mold.Previous imageEnlargeCloseNext image / Share This Story Related ArticlesNokia Bets The Company: New Windows 8 Phones Key To RecoveryValve, Maker of Steam and Source Software, Turns To HardwareNokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 Will Get Wireless Charging

One of the most intriguing announcements was the unveil of Sony's VAIO Duo 11, which is a hybrid style ultrabook that combines the elements of a tablet and a laptop into one product.

The device has been showcased at the event as an optimal Windows 8 tablet, taking the idea that was introduced with the Surface and expanding that even further into a full-on notebook tablet mash up. One of the features that made the Surface tablet unique when it was introduced was that it comes equipped with a protective case which doubles as a keyboard. Sony seems to have taken kindly to this notion, releasing a device that take this idea to the next level. .bk_ggl div {height:92px!important; margin-bottom:20px!important;} Must ReadDemonoidDemonoid Return Could Be Halted By Anti-Piracy ActionWadjdaSaudi Arabia's First Female Moviemaker Debuts At Venice Film FestivalSponsorship Link

The VAIO Duo 11 measures at 11.6 inches and weighs 2.9 pounds with a metal band locked across the bottom. The device boasts touch screen display with a screen that slides smoothly into the keyboard and stays solidly in place when it is raised. This gives it a different feel from other tablets compatible with keyboards, as Adi Robertson of the Verge writes in a hands-on preview of the device.

Windows 8 has come under fire from some critics who have said that the new operating system won't suit PC users, which has been Microsoft's core audience for the most part. The upcoming interface, formerly known as Metro, will feature tiled apps catering to mobile devices. Some have also criticized Windows 8 for requiring that app purchases be made through the Windows Store, likening it to its Apple rival.

Ever since details on Windows 8 have begun to spill out, there have been talks of how the software is designed to cater to tablet devices. But perhaps the Sony VAIO 11 is exactly the type of product that Windows 8 was made for. With its new operating system, Microsoft is clearly creating software that falls in between what PC users want and what works with tablets. For these purposes, Windows 8 would work perfectly with a device that combines these two entities.

A day before the Windows 8-powered device was officially revealed, Samsung also teased its own tablet powered by the upcoming Microsoft operating system. On Monday, the Korea-based manufacturer posted a photo on its Facebook page with the tag line teasing "Ready to be smart? IFA 2012, Berlin."

Other Windows 8 tablets were also unveiled at the trade show on Tuesday, such as the Tap 20 , the T-Series 13 Ultrabook, the Vivo Tab RT and the Taichi. Each of these devices is branded as a tablet-PC hybrid with detachable keyboards, paving the way for what could be next in the mobile industry.

It seems as if Microsoft's Surface tablet only scratched the "surface" of how the company plans to market Windows 8. As the release date draws even closer, Microsoft and its partner manufacturers are sure to reveal even further insight as to what its plans are for Windows 8.
