HTC may intro two tablets at September 19 event

HTC may have two Android tablets for its upcoming September 19 press conference, if recent chatter is to be believed.

According to rumors making the rounds this week, HTC is working on a 7-inch Flyer/Evo View 4G successor that will be based off Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and likely feature a custom HTC experience with support for the Scribe digital pen.

Hardware specifications are said to include a 7-inch 1,280×768-pixel display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, a 3-megapixel camera on the rear, and a 1-megapixel front-facing camera.

HTC will reportedly squeeze everything into a superslim 7.1mm thin anodized aluminum body, much like the HTC One S. It isn't clear whether the presumed Flyer 2 will feature a dual-core or quad-core CPU; however, we should expect retail price to play the determining factor. Anything above $199 will be a tough sell in the wake of the Google Nexus 7 and the Amazon Kindle Fire.

Remember the rumblings from nearly a year ago when we learned that HTC was prepping a quad-core Quattro tablet?
At the time, we were under the impression that HTC would bring a Tegra 3-powered 10.1-inch tablet, 1GB RAM, and Beats Audio to Mobile World Congress. Lo and behold, HTC has yet to deliver a tablet since the Jetstream. In fact, HTC had seemingly given up on tablets for the time being....
